Amherst, Michael R. Aldrich, 68 years old, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, June 6th, 2017 after a brief illness, with his wife Elaine by his side. Mike was born May 20^th, 1949 in Greenfield, MA the son of previously deceased Raymond and Joan Aldrich. He was raised in Greenfield until 1963 when the family moved to Amherst, MA. He is a graduate of Amherst Regional High School and Holyoke Community College. Mike owned and operated Aldrich Automotive in Amherst and then Hatfield until his retirement in 2006. 

Mike is survived by his wife Elaine (Gonski) Aldrich and three children; Christina and her wife Sharon Ward, Jennifer and her partner Athell, grandsons Jordan and Athell Bennett and his son Timothy and his wife Dina. He is also survived by his two sisters Kelly Aldrich, her son Kevin Crutch and wife Nicole and his sister Ellen and her husband Don Witham. 

Mike was a great family man and sportsman. In his younger years he enjoyed golf, hunting and recently fishing and working in his vegetable garden. He also loved playing cards and working with friends restoring old trucks and automobiles. 

Calling hours will be at Douglass Funeral Service at 87 North Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA on Sunday, June 11^th from 3PM – 6PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Brigid’s Church, 122 North Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA on Monday, June 12^th at 10AM, with burial at Holy Rosary Cemetery, in Hadley, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA and Hospice of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton, MA.
