Linda Louise Martin, 70, passed away at 6:30 PM, Sunday, November 22, 2020 at her home in Amherst, MA. She was born on October 11, 1950 in Bessemer, MI to Victor and Elsie Yalonen. She married David Martin on August 31, 1974.

She is survived by her three daughters Amber Cano-Martin, Kristin Martin, and Joelle Martin; her brother John Yalonen; her grandkids Carlos Cano-Martin, and Javier Cano-Martin; and several cousins.

Her parents and her husband David preceded her in death.

Linda graduated from Michigan State University as a Bachelor of Arts in 1972 and settled in the Lansing area. There, she met and married David while they worked together at the WJIM radio station. In 1988, Linda, David and the kids moved to Westchester, NY and continued to build their family, staying in the same house for nearly 20 years.  

Linda was a career woman, and was able to adapt and reinvent herself over the course of years. There was never a break in her employment, and her talents in public relations were highly sought after. Despite this, she was able to give her family an equal amount of attention. Linda was a loving mother and wife, and always gave her time and help where it was most needed. 

In her spare time, Linda was an avid reader and writer, and often enjoyed taking walks with her husband or children. She loved to bake and make home-cooked meals for her family when time permitted, and kept in touch with her many friends and family through letters and phone calls.

Brian McColgan, 79, of Amherst, MA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, November 14, 2020. Born March 27, 1941 in Paterson, NJ, he was a champion distance runner into college, when his Olympic dreams were cut short by a serious accident. Brian turned to travel; he lived in Big Sur, CA and Lake Placid, NY before setting in Montague, MA with his wife Barbara White. He traveled to Europe, Central America, and all over the United States, but Western MA remained his home. His 50-year professional career began designing and building custom homes and led to commercial construction, building stores spanning the East Coast.

Brian was a warm, kind man in all aspects of his life. A life-long charitable donor, he once volunteered to build a school in Nicaragua. He could fix or build anything and was a self-taught painter. He loved to gather with friends and family to cook his famous blueberry banana pancakes, cheer on his favorite sports teams, or visit the family lake house in Norway, ME.

Brian leaves his beloved wife Lynda Faye, his daughters Molly McColgan (Husband Ted, Children, Bridget and Max) and Carrie McColgan-Branson (Children, Lydia, Josephine, and Lucas), and his brother Barry McColgan (Wife, Nancy, Children, Jed, Ryan and Kara). He also leaves his step-children, Matt Stoffolano (Child, Mara), Adam Stoffolano (Wife, Melissa, Children Luciano and Noah), Tessa Hill (Husband, Eben), and Arielle Henson (Husband, Jesse). His family was the light of his life.

A celebration of his life will be held in the Spring of 2021.

Cole was preceded in death by his grandfather and absolute best friend, Richard Baranoski. We find comfort in knowing that they are together again.

Beverly Ann Main born March 2, 1930 passed away on November 8, 2020 at Elk Meadows Memory Care in Oakley, UT.  She recently moved to Utah to be closer to her daughter. Beverly was born to Catharine and William Reynolds in Sommerville, MA then moved to Pelham. In 1950 she married Howard Main in CT by a former minister of the South Amherst Congregational Church. They were married 66 years until Howard’s passing in 2016.

She is survived by her two children, Jeffrey H. Main (Michele) and Debra J. Main, two granddaughters Lindsey and Jolee, along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Beverly was preceded in death by her older siblings, William Reynolds and Joy Heath.

She enjoyed swimming, ice skating, bowling and movies. In high school she was a cheerleader, a Tri-S club officer and class president her junior year. She recalls high school as some of her happiest years. After graduating she became secretary to the high school principal.

After “Howie” returned from the Korean War, he built their home in South Amherst where they lived for over thirty years. After retiring they moved to Pine Valley Plantation in Belchertown, MA. After Howard’s passing, she resided at The Arbors of Greenfield.

Beverly raised her children and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s business. Her dream was to be an elementary school teacher. Instead, she enjoyed being a Cub Scout leader and taught Sunday school. When her children were older, she was the Health Aid at Amherst Regional High School.

Beverly loved life with a sense of humor and happiness in the simple things. Days were spent at Laurel Lake, Lake Wyola, Mountain and Riverside Parks, Misquamicut Beach, Cape Cod and later trips to Largo, Florida with Howie. She enjoyed her ladies golf club at Hickory Ridge and a weekly card game with girlfriends. She also enjoyed board games and bingo.

Beverly suffered with Alzheimer’s the last five years of her life still never losing her beauty and sense of humor. She requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospital or a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor.

An outdoor graveside service will be held at the South Amherst Cemetery, South East Street on Tuesday, November 24^th at 11:00am. Beverly will be laid to rest next to her husband who she dearly missed.

Frank G. Rehorka, “Bumpa,” beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, age 90, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020. He was born in New York City and spent many happy childhood years at his wonderful family farm in Shutesbury, MA before living in Amherst for most of his life. He proudly served his country in the National Guard at the end of the Korean War. He loved fishing the Swift River, the Quabbin, and many other rivers and ponds. He worked at Florence Tool and Die and later at Wilderness Mold where he was an exceptional machinist up until his retirement. Frank was described by many people as a one-of-a-kind man. He was kind and generous, and had a loving old soul.  He had the highest integrity, and was a person who always had your back. Frank was a deep listener for anyone who needed his support. He knew how to fix just about anything, and he passed that talent and along to his sons. Frank was humble, loyal, and had an intense work ethic.  Along with his loving wife Barbara, the two spent many years taking care of their grandchildren while their parents worked.  Prior to Barbara’s passing in May 2019, the couple was inseparable. They loved taking day trips with family and friends and nothing made Frank happier than being with his family.  He was a diehard Patriots fan, never wanting to miss a game.  “Bumpa” will be very deeply missed by his family. Frank leaves behind two sons, Gary Rehorka and his wife, Rachel Schwab Rehorka and their son, Benjamin of Shutesbury and David Rehorka and his wife, Michelle Rehorka, and their twin children, Devon and Kelly of Montague. Due to Covid-19, there will be a private burial service for both Frank and Barbara.
