AMHERST, Frank J. “Wick” Wojtklewicz, 98, a long time Amherst resident died Wednesday, Dec. 12. Born on March 5, 1914 in Hatfield, he was the son of the late Frank W. and Anna (Merhel) Wojtklewicz. Frank was a graduate of Deerfield Academy, Class of 1935, and of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts, Class of 1937, specializing in horticulture. Most of his career he worked in the Engineering Department at the University until his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, Frank especially enjoyed fishing, trapping and gardening. He was also a respected amateur archaeologist. He was a long time communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church. Frank was a great friend to many and will always be remembered for his wisdom and willingness to help others. He is survived by his daughters, Joan Wick Pelletier of Albany, NY and Jane Savage of Northampton, his three grandsons, Maurice Pelletier of Toronto, Canada, Emile Pelletier of Ottawa and Michael Savage of Northampton, his brother and sister-in-law, John and Anne Hanieski and his sister-in-law Blanche Wojtklewicz and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Sophie (Hanieski) in 2010, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 9:00 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Hadley with burial following in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Hadley.
