PostHeaderIcon ROSEMARY A. FERN of SOUTH HADLEY, MASS, September 12, 1935 – January 2, 2015

Hadley, Rosemary Fern of Hadley Village Road, South Hadley died peacefully at Elaine Manor Nursing Home on January 2, 2015.  She was the daughter of the late Edward (“Ned”) and Mary Ellen (nee Black) McMahon.  Rosemary was born in Springfield Mass on September 12, 1935.  She attended Agawam schools and received her bachelor’s degree from Westfield State College.  Rosemary was employed as a bank teller at Commonwealth Federal Bank, Fleet Bank and retired from Bank of Western Massachusetts.  She was a gifted quilter and over the years made many treasured quilts for her family and friends.  Rosemary also enjoyed travelling, reading and was an avid Red Sox fan.  

Rosemary is pre-deceased by her husband Patrick Fern, a son Mark Bachand and grandson Lyle Bachand.  Rosemary is survived by her daughter Ann Bronner of Hadley, son Paul Bachand and his wife Trish of Belchertown and her daughter Elizabeth Bachand and her husband Stewart Warren of Granby.  She will be missed by her grandchildren Erin Summerlin, Lori Zumbruski, Daniel Warren, Cassie Warren, Sam Warren, Brian Bachand, Chelsea Bachand, Dylan Bachand, Mark Bachand and Robin Cabriotti.  Rosemary also leaves her great grandchildren Kyle Costa, Molly and McKenna Zumbruski, Liam Warren, Bailey and Brayden Bachand.  Rosemary was well cared for by her caretaker Mary Hobert.  The family would also like to thank the staff members at Comprehensive Home Care and Elaine Manor of Hadley.  

Calling hours for Rosemary will be on Tuesday, January 6th from 5-7 pm at the Douglass Funeral Home in Amherst.  A private burial service will be held on Wednesday, January 7th at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Cemetery in Agawam.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arthritis National Research Foundation.
